In today’s economy, it’s a hell lot easier to get in debt. Such people are in millions who use credit cards to make both ends meet as their paycheck can’t go with them till the end of every month. For many people it’s quite difficult to become debt free, but in actual it’s not as hard as they may think about it. The thing that is quite important to become and stay debt free is to understand the secrets of loans and other debt. Don’t reckon yourself alone in debt, as there are million of people who are suffering from debt and the reason is, they have no choice for survival.

You need to put a little effort to learn how to stay debt free and have to avoid getting another loan or debt to get out of the financial obligations that you are already suffering from. No matter how much debt you have and how your income is if you are willing to do this, you can definitely do.

Everyone and I really mean everyone wants to be out of debt, but most of them don’t like to do anything about it. You will never succeed to change your financial situation if you pile debt after debt.

Before you have racked up thousands of dollars in debt on credit cards than after, it’s a lot easier to learn how to control debt and stay a debt free life. It’s a sad fact that only a few people learn this lesson early enough. You can take some concrete steps to begin to control your debt if you are in debt up to your armpits. Here are some of the steps that need to be taken against debt.

Try to know what the big picture of your debt is. List your existing debts, the interest rate you have to pay, outstanding balance and minimum monthly payment.

You can use debt analyzer to find out which debts to pay off first. You can download this software from sites like PC world and CNET. It offers a free trial and thus allows you to sample the program without paying for it.

There is nothing wrong with it if you ask your credit card company to lower your rates. You must tell your card company if you are receiving offers for lower rate credit cards. They may like to match the offer if they want to keep your business. You can ask the supervisor if the first person refuse to lower your rate.

Avoid using credit cards unnecessarily. Try to pay cash or use debit card to pay for all your purchases You can keep your credit card at home (in some safe place) you can utilize it for emergencies but not for impulse purchases. Your debt can never get under control if you keep using credit cards to pay bills or purchasing other things.

If you are willing to take these steps to control your debt, there is no reason that you wouldn’t succeed to live a debt free life.

Competition is an inevitable thing in the realm of the workplace. If you are currently working in a company, an organization, or in a school the most likely thing is that you have experienced competitive tension with a colleague one time or another. Even when you have no intention of competing with anyone, inevitable circumstances will just find their way into your career and before you know it, you are already in a battle of skills and wits with a fellow worker.

It is important to understand however that competition in the workplace need not be destructive at all times. Being competitive can be done constructively, and what’s even better is that it can even put you ahead of the corporate game. There are just a few habits needed to be incorporated into your everyday dealings at the office, or your organization.

First of all, improve on your listening skills. When there is a meeting for example be attentive on what the manager is saying, and even if you are not the appointed secretary during that meeting, jot down notes all the same. Moreover, learn to listen to people on what they have to say, rather than cutting them off with your opinions on the matter. When you know how to listen and be more attentive, you are sure to gather more information that the rest of your colleagues may be quick to forget the following day. You also give off the impression that you are easy to converse with, and can be trusted to really listen.

Second, learn to communicate matters to the person concerned in your department or company. When you communicate problems and issues, it is a sign that you are passionate about your work. In any competition, those who are able to communicate the right issues to the one concerned are more likely to be ahead than those who lack communication skills.

Third, be a problem solver, or at least be interested in being one. Don’t just sit around pretending nothing’s wrong when the rest of your colleagues and the supervisor are anxious in solving something. You do not even have to volunteer if you fear the possibility of being rejected. Simply show them that you are willing to be of assistance, and do not deliberately isolate yourself even if you have nothing to do with the problem.

Fourth, manage your time wisely, and in the case of multi-tasking positions, recognize which work needs to be prioritized and which can be settled on another day. Competition is not only about who gets the most number of sales or who is chummier with the boss. Oftentimes it’s also about who achieves more production given a period of time, and given the volume of tasks assigned. Effective time management merits you to achieve more quality in your work rather than mere quantity. In the long run, you will be able to adopt this in your system and in no time your manager will surely notice.

Fifth, don’t be too proud with your stock of knowledge. Instead be willing to learn every single thing, everyday. It could be learning how to operate a new office machine, learning a new business strategy from a supervisor, or learning time management tips with a much older colleague. The greater your knowledge is on a wider scope of things, the better you will be able to perform competitively.

Finally, don’t forget your social skills. As much as possible maintain peaceful relations with each of your colleague, and avoid office gossip. Talk with your boss casually without being overconfident. Being a comfortable but hardworking colleague can easily put you ahead in any workplace competition.

On an average, a manager today spends at least 40% of the work time resolving conflicts between the employees!

Conflicts are inevitable, especially when it comes to a workplace environment. Put any two people to work together, and there are bound to be some sort of a disagreement between them. All through our lives we have heard of those never ending expensive and discordant proceedings. A straightforward character disagreement stuck between two members of a team can possibly cripple efficiency and in the end put down the entire team feeling irritated and let down. Some great minds in the world have come up with a number of successful tips in order to resolve such conflicts.

Take Responsibility

From a very early age in life, we have been taught to turn to our elders our teachers to solve our problems and we carry the same in our workplace as well. On the other hand, resolving issues even before they occur and making changes accordingly can be pretty diverting for the company and the operational policies in particular. So the only advise here would be to follow the rules and abide them with due responsibility towards the company and that shall help you follow the path of success with peace. With following the rules and taking responsibility of the arising situations, one can surely create a fair environment free from conflicts. However, rules do not go far when it comes to addressing the real life situations. Simply passing a rule is not enough to solve the workplace conflicts; it requires a lot more than that.

Communicative Solutions to Conflicts

The larger corporations have a specific method to deal with conflicts, in a rather constructive manner. There are a number of sources that can initiate conflict between the employees but the most recurring problem is the miscommunication between them. Many a times a lot of unmet expectations or offended arguments can lead to heavy conflicts and it often affects the productivity. As a result, differences should be resolved using effective communicative measures. During the meetings, everyone should be given an equal authority to put forward their ideas without being forced a single rule or policy on everyone. This small change can leave with fewer conflicts as everyone wants to be heard.

It is the duty of the management to find out the effects of any conflict in the organization regardless of its size. If the conflict arises out of personal conflict then one can resolve it by creating the best possible environment and on the other hand if the conflict is the result of a strategy that can be beneficial to the company then it should be ended on a positive note. All organizations in business should arrange mandatory classes for its employees to improve their interpersonal skills. Consequently building the right communication with the conflict parties will lead to a win-win situation.

Investigate the Source to Conflict

More often than not, turning to the authority all the time to resolve the problems might not give the results you want and thus the ability to solve problems is questioned while working at team levels. Hence one should come up with its own method or conflict resolution process. Find out the key things that lead to conflict. If there is a certain disagreement over one single issue then it would be suggestive to make an attempt to solve the issue first prior to turning towards management for problem solving.

In any case, do not deal with conflicts keeping the personal rivalry in mind. This will not only leave a mark on your career, but in severe conditions, your integrity might also be interrogated. Hence figure out the exact conflict arousing source and stay away from such elements as much as possible, still abiding the company or the organizational rules.

Do not be Stressed by Conflict

A number of people today cannot accept disagreement and hence it turns to conflicts. This is why the rules have fallen into place but at times these rules do scare the employees and hence prevent them for expressing their concerns over various matters. Thus in order to ensure that it is a stress-free environment; one must often get everyone’s opinion against deciding on one particular resolution. Everyone wants to feel worth of the work that they are doing and the only way to satisfy the workers is by listening to their solutions and bringing them to practice. It is mandatory to react quickly while managing conflicts as the more it keeps existing, the messier it gets for all those involved in it, including the company or the business.

There are conflicts in almost every other workplace and no business can flourish with a poorly managed conflict environment. Conflict management is a worthy investment for the future of the organization and its employees. Effectively managed conflicts multiply the human and financial resources of the company!

It is often said that the first impression is the last impression. If you are looking out for a job, or even are trying to jump from one job or another, the resume is your first impression, so you should also try to make it worth being your last impression.

A good resume is one of the only things that decide whether you go to the ‘In’ door or the ‘Exit’ door. The resume is basically a mirror of yourself. Apart from being a brief and frank inventory of your skills, your achievements and your ambitions, the very way a resume is written speaks volumes about the person in question. Here are a few tips about writing that cracking resume which will doubtlessly give you an edge over the countless resumes flocking to that particular job you have been aiming for.

1. Keep Your Self Respect Intact:

More often than not, interviewers feel uncomfortable reading terms like ‘Please give me one chance to show my talents’, ‘I will be grateful if you consider me for the post with your company’, ‘If given the opportunity, I will do my best to prove my worth to the company’ or worse, ‘Please give me one chance to show my talents and skills for the company’. While some interviewers may at least select you for the first interview for just emotional reasons, most will wonder about the reason that you have been unemployed. Secondly, there is seldom any place for emotion in business, and the minute the interviewer who called you for the interview on emotional basis gets the right person, you will get the common ‘don’t call us, we’ll call you’ attitude.

2. Keep it brief:

The entire beauty of a resume is in the fact that it gives just an idea of your achievements and talents. Another reason that a resume should be brief is that most interviewers will have similar resumes lying on their table, and all they need is a reason to interact with the prospective candidate. A brief resume enables the interviewer to interact with you, know more about you, and therefore come to a quick decision whether you are a good choice for the company. In fact, a brief resume and good interpersonal skills do sometimes negate the need of a second or a third interview, bringing it all down to the final interview. However, one should take care that the interview does not look quickly written or written in such a way that it can help the candidate to apply for a number of other profiles. Simply put, the resume should be simple, clear, brief and to the point.

3. Formatting:

Formatting is of the essence for any document, be it a poem or the resume itself. While it is not advisable to have someone else write the resume, it is suggested that if one is not conversant with various word processing software, they should take the help of friends and acquaintances to create a neatly formatted resume for the big day.

4. Basic Layout:

Maybe the only profile that will profit from a resume, which is a ‘font family’ in itself, is a graphics designer. Other than that, other profiles should adhere to some of the classic corporate fonts while preparing their profile. Some fonts which look nice on the profile are Arial, Verdana and Times New Roman. Many people do use the underlining tag for heads and subheads, but the underline tag does seem a bit assaulting to the senses while reading the profile. Also, one should remember that they are creating a professional document and not some letter expressing love to a beloved person. Therefore, one should not keep any kind of flowery language.

5. Keep the Target Market in Mind:

In case you have been headhunted and called for an interview, you will doubtlessly have got an e-mail, written intimation or a telephonic call about the interview and when and where it is to be held. If it is an e-mail or a written intimation, you have a chance to go through the way the company writes its own collateral. For example, pay attention to the date format “ is it 12-11-2007, or is it 11-12-2007 or 12th November, 2007? Keeping the resume in the same format that the company already uses helps in having some favorable decisions before even coming in for the interview.

6. References and Achievements:

References are too important to be taken lightly. In fact, with the advent of background checks today, references are the very essence of a prospective employee. Therefore, it is suggested that one gives references only of professional acquaintances, immediate bosses and immediate family when required. Another thing that should never be done is the addition of fake information. Most companies do a thorough background check even before calling an aspirant.

One should also be careful about the achievements they provide in the previous experience box. Take care that the achievements are relevant to your current profile and the post you are applying for. For example, an achievement of winning a debate competition or a poetry competition during high school has little or no effect on an application for a post of a IT quality manager.

At the end, one should understand that resume has a me in it, and is a mirror of one’s talents and achievements. So, try to keep the facts as real and relevant to the world as you are.
