A foreword about how “Going Green” gains a compulsory consideration priority.

The Green Strategy originated in the early twentieth century when a large hole was discovered in the earth’s space in the Ozone layer that protects our earth from the onslaught and ill-effects of injurious rays from outer space. This hole occurred just above South America.

The Scientists did their hard work and analyzed that excess release of carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide and similar damaging gases are the cause and therefore are to be controlled to help undo the damage done. They also concluded that Americans alone are generating around 60% – 70% of these unfriendly gases. Experts worldwide approached United Nations to initiate preventive efforts.

The whole world is now part of these Green Campaign Worldwide strategies and awareness programs are being conducted to focus on the main causes that generate the adverse gases to eliminate or control them.

Studies have shown that forests, vegetation and trees consume carbon dioxide and release the friendly oxygen gas much needed by humans. All the Nations are prohibiting excessive cutting of trees to conserve forests. The forests attracts rain that help keep low the heavier carbon dioxide, besides some dissolves in raindrops and sink in the earth (Acid Rain). The waste dumped worldwide each year totals up in billions of tons. This waste includes household, office, factories, hospitals and all types of other residue waste that is thrown and dumped out as “Not wanted”. Experiments showed that this dumped waste put together generated more carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide than the natural decay cycles throughout the world.

The Green Office Week (2nd to 6th March 2009)

United Kingdom became the pioneer in the Green Office Campaign. A research was conducted that confirmed the office employees accepted the idea of Green office but very little effort was being practically made. The Green office week was organized in March to increase awareness. Eco friendly tips and ideas were projected to improve conditions. Avery Labels took the lead for their UK office. All employees were involved in the efforts to save costs. The media, TV and Radio picked up the idea and promoted it nationwide. A trend initiated to reduce waste dumping and to recycle it.

The Green Office and Eco Friendly Strategy

This strategy and related campaign forces on reducing waste dumping. The dumped waste combines with rain / waste water and air moisture to produce unhealthy and poisonous gases that rise above visible atmosphere to form a dome like cover, commonly called a blanket that does not allow earth’s heat to dissipate into outer space. This increases the temperature within our earth causing “In House affect” or Global Warming.

The Waste Dumping can be reduced in many ways.

• By increasing recycling of common waste of household, office, factories adequately.
• By encouraging use of products of recycled materials as their waste will recycle again.
• By encouraging reuse of usable waste directly.
• By saving all types of energy particularly fuel energy. When this burns in burners, ovens, cars, generators etc, the smoke emitted contains deadly carbon monoxide and dioxide.
• By controlling unnecessary wastage of daily use items in offices, homes, etc.

We can reduce what we throw out daily to conserve virgin materials.

• The daily incoming mail envelops can be reused by affixing a gum paper or sticker. If light colored inside then use as rough paper by slitting at one end.
• Ball pens can be re-used by using refills. Prefer ink pens.
• Use Window blinds saving electricity on winter heating or summer cooling.
• Switch off all machines not needed when closing office. One computer monitor will save enough energy to print hundreds of pages.
• Avoid high and stick to moderate temperatures for heaters save 20% cost and Air-conditioners, save 20% cost.
• Prefer open windows and fans in middle periods and save energy.
• Switch to energy saving products bulbs, sensors as far possible.
• Reuse shoppers, jiffy bags and cardboard packaging by labeling over previous addresses.
• Use files, cardboards, copier papers, rough pads, binders, packing materials etc of recycled waste.
• Use ink refills as far possible to save dumping of virgin plastic material.
• Use separate bins for glass, plastic, papers, card, food etc. to avoid waste mixing for easy sorting.

Prefer “Green” Recycled Products – Information and Statistics

Your preference to Green Products made of recycled waste will complete the anti dumping cycle. Prime virgin materials will be saved and amount to resource saving.

• Buy recycled paper; card products will eventually save trees and retain forests.
• Buy recycled plastic goods – will lead to save virgin material and ultimately fuels.
• Save energy in any form – would keep – preserve natural resources.
• Conservation of bio-chemical fuels means less carbon dioxide – less “in-house” gases-less global warming.
• Buy toner cartridges remanufactured. They sell cheaper but same quality as of new. A company using 1500 cartridges saved £8000 a year.
• Retain office furniture and equipments for longer periods for savings. Then sell or give to charity for re-use.
• About half of office wastes are expensive – high grade non-recycled papers.
• About 65% of office waste is recyclable but about 10% only is being recycled.
• 75% of world’s old original forests have been logged.
• World’s industrial logging that goes into paper makings is around 40% – 50%.
• Each office worker generates 1 ton of waste each year using over 20’000 paper sheets.
• Pulp and paper industry is the 5th largest consumer of energy Recycled paper uses 40% of energy than virgin paper and much less water.

The World population as a whole has to respond to the “Green Challenge” to save the “Ozone Sphere” from further damage. The positive efforts made will also reduce Global Warming as both these concerns are interrelated and call for nearly similar precautions. The third world countries should be amply supported as they alone do not have enough resources to divert to “Green” Strategy.

Importance and Advantages

Word of mouth marketing is absolutely a direct way of marketing which brings about quick and better response of the listener. It is, therefore, both time saving and influential at one and the same time.

Print media, no doubt has its own great importance which can never be denied, but this importance is confined only to the readers who happen to read it. On the other hand, Mouth of word marketing is wide ranging and requires no reading but just listening which is obviously more scope full as well. Moreover, word of mouth marketing does not necessarily require higher education as is required for writing a book. Even an ordinary illiterate or less educated person can do word of mouth marketing easily if he has a convincing tone and will power required to keep sticking to that task.

All the new ideas, theories, philosophies and laws are introduced and formulated by human beings and then they are brought to light through books, computer software, etc. This proves that human beings are the best source of new ideas and innovations, so they are naturally the best informers of those very innovations. Thus word of mouth marketing which is actually the words of human beings is the most influential of all the other modes of all the other modes of marketing.

Last but not the least, word of mouth marketing also increases the rate of employment in the country as it requires more and more persons to undertake or handle marketing manually. Thus it is quite clear that word of mouth marketing is still very much effective even in this age of latest and fastest electronic media.

Some factors that dishearten a student while learning something.Many People are of the view that a good fast learning ability is a God-gifted trait and it’s not possible for every one to be a good fast learner. But in my opinion it’s not so hard to be a good fast learner as people reckon it. God has bestowed us with similar kind of mental and physical qualities, even genetic science has proved that all human beings are 99.99 percent same and it is only the difference of 0.01percent that makes them different in faces, height, color of skin and eyes etc. So, to attach the term “God-gifted” only with some feels quite awkward and absurd. Allah likes justice and prevails it every where but human mind (Though it’s doing miracles) is not capable enough to comprehend that justice. Allah has bestowed every one with every thing but it depends how does one utilize one’s latent potential and make the most of one’s skills. In short, everyone and I really mean “Everyone” can be a good learner if one is willing to put some efforts. It all depends on our efforts that how far we can go to get the desired results. It is a well known saying

“Dictionary is the only place where success comes before work.”

Similarly, the maxim of “No pain, no gain” is also very popular whole around the world.

We just need to take some steps in right direction to be a good learner. If one wants to be a good learner, one has to keep one’s eyes and mind open. The more open our minds are, the more things would fall in it. Open mindedness is as necessary to be a good learner as some key to open some lock.

It is a well known saying

“Minds are just like parachutes, they don’t work until they are not opened.”

One can make the most of one’s mind only by widening the canvas of one’s thoughts.

The following demerits are the basic factors that are the hurdle in the way of open minded attitude.

1. To restrict yourself to a certain gambit.
2. To adopt fixation in ideas.
3. To act in a biased way towards certain subjects.
4. To feel hesitation will asking some question.
5. Last but not least is lack of confidence and an unreasonable shy attitude towards certain topics.

These factors always prove as great hindrance in the way of open minded attitude and learning as well.

It’s human wont that they always make mistakes. But the people who always scared of making mistakes, they make a big mistake and can’t do something worthwhile in their lives because they get less opportunity in their lives to make themselves better.

There are also some people who do not hesitate to make some mistake again and again. These people actually do not learn from their mistakes repeatedly.

The sane and wise people are those who make some mistake only once and learn to avoid it next time.

The modern age is the age of computer science’s revolution. Human life is changing in every moment on this earth and I have no qualm to say that the things that look the most advanced and latest would become dated and out of use in the next five to seven years. Human race has never seen such rapid progress on this planet that we call the earth. Every one knows the role of computer sciences in this progress and those who have some know-how with computer also know the meanings of the term “User- friendly”. This age can be called the age of user friendly devices and learning is becoming easier and easier with every passing day but still the world is full of such fools as never like to spend even an iota of their attention to utilize these user friendly devices by themselves. Contrary to this, they seek the help of others even to install some software in their computers while the computer goes on telling what should be the next step. Instead of seeking help from others one must try to create one’s own experience.

If we make an analysis of our system of education and the system of education in the western world, we would find that the education system in most of the western countries promote research and creativity while in the third world countries (Most of them are Muslim countries) it promotes fixed ideas and cramming. The result is quite obvious that these western countries are laddering on stars while a third world country like Pakistan has not yet defined its political system. Research is the factor which makes study interesting and high level of interest can make learning much easier.

Many parents have this misconception regarding their children that their son/daughter is intelligent enough to masterly grip any subject they decide for him/her. All such parents must keep in mind that it’s not the level of intelligence but the level of interest which makes some student a brilliant student. Students can utilize their intelligence well only in the subjects of their own interest; otherwise, they have to work a lot of hard to get little. So, we can learn those things easily in which we have keen interest.

Some one says “Repetition teaches the Donkey.” It’s true to a great extent. We learn with the passage of time, if not in the first attempt, the second or the third one paves the way of our success. So, learning is not so hard as to retain this learnt thing in mind. The best way to retain something in mind is not to restrict this learning in mind but to express it and spread it to many people that can be your pupils or your fellow students. The biggest problem of learning is forgetting. One can avoid forgetting one’s learning by telling that learning to others.

The last but not least thing which is the most important element of learning process is positive thinking and those noble deeds which take place because of that positive thinking. No one can deny the role of better concentration in learning process. Peace of mind and tranquility act like enzymes to achieve better concentration and we can get these enzymes by offering prayer five time a day. Firm faith and strong belief in Allah can also be the guarantee of our success in every walk of life. Pakistan is passing through a period of so-called modernization and enlightenment and for these so-called modern minded and enlightened people things like faith and prayers are not more than trifles. But if we put out these things from our lives, we are even lower than the animals. Contrary to this, if we adopt these things in our lives, we learn everything which is essential to succeed in life.

The above mentioned steps can make everyone a good learner but besides these steps there are some factors which dishearten a student while learning something. These factors are as follow.

• Problem of language: English is considered the most important world language today. No language is so widespread as English. The number of people who speak English now exceeds 400 million. In most of the developing countries in Asia and Africa English is the medium of instruction. Many people are of the view that history does not support the view that creative work in a foreign language is not possible .They present the examples of Sir Isaac Newton‘s great book “Principia” was written in Latin not in his mother tongue English. They also support their view by presenting such arguments as many creative works of high quality were written by the Persians, the Turks, and the Central Asians not in their mother tongue but in Arabic. Actually, these people who have such views live in fool’s Paradise and do not accept the reality that every student is not Sir Isaac Newton, Al-Baruni or Ghazali.There  are also some examples which show that the English made great progress when they translated the great works of Latin in English and made these works comprehensive for the common man. Similarly, Chinese are making progress in today’s world faster than any other nation without adopting English as medium of instruction. I am not against English language but it wouldn’t be a sane act if we falsify the ground realities and go on following English language blindly. It is a fact that we can comprehend something easily in our mother language instead of a borrowed language. So, for the majority of student learning can be easier if it is done in their own languages of daily use.
• Way of teaching: Sometimes it happen so that some topics look very difficult and we think that we would never be able to grip them properly but with  proper guidance of our teachers these difficult topics become the rock of sand and we conquer them easily. Every teacher has his own method and techniques to make certain topic easy and supple for his student. The real good teacher is one who knows the mentality of his students and can diagnose their illness like an expert physician. If a teacher goes on teaching without keeping this fact in mind, he merely proves wastage of time for his students and his student can’t learn anything properly.
• Listening: Listening is also paying an important role in learning. The most vital sense of our five senses but it is also a fact that we do not heed over this sense according to the requirement. Scientific study proves that the people who have a better listening ability are far more successful than those who are not better listeners. Most People get quite habitual to listen to themselves they indulge so badly in themselves that they reckon others voices just noises. Only better listeners can be the better learners. If we really want to be a good learner, we will have to develop the habit of effective listening. Otherwise we will loss many important things in life

In his renowned novel “The old man and the Sea” Ernest Hemingway says at one place “Man is not made for defeat. A man can be destroyed but not defeated.” I am of the view that these lines should be our motto in life while doing something whether it’s learning a new technique or solving the most difficult sum of mathematics we just need to adopt a never say die attitude.

Learning and losing are two facts of our lives .Every one can masterly face these facts if one is willing to pay proper attention and bearing the pain which comes in the way while marching towards some destination. But it is also a fact that every one can’t do that .One has to be courageous and determent to do that in one’s life.

Only those can take the sky in their arms and tread the world in their feet that have the courage to erase themselves with a smiling face.
