How to write an effective and successful speech

The skill of writing good speech always proves an asset. Usually, the thing that decides about our success and failure or at least about acceptance or rejection is the use of right words at right places.

Good speechwriting isn’t an inborn trait that comes in part of some; anyone and I really mean anyone can be a good speech writer by passing through a regular trial-and error process. No doubt, there are people who have an inborn talent to say right thing at right place but these people are rare and don’t exist next to your door. If you are not one of that rare species, don’t you worry, it’s enough if you want to be like them as we are never given a wish without also being given the power to make it true.

Before writing a speech, research of the topic is the first thing that you have to do and this is often a comprehensive procedure that makes you have much more information than you use in the speech. Research is essential as it offers you a wide understanding of your topic. But sometimes it happens so that we make a lot of research and collect so much information as it becomes quite difficult to compress all of them in a two minute speech.

So, the best way to avoid such confusion is to make summary of your research and omit all that material that you consider superfluous.

Secondly, you must try to summarize these things in those terms that a layman can also understand, for instance you are writing a speech that will be used for an industry-specific function, and you must try to avoid the jargon and other technical terms as much as you can.

Try to know the things that make a difference to involve or lose listeners. Ask yourself again and again that the speech you are offering to your audience, can it invoke interest in your audience. The simplest way to catch audience attention is to inform them from those aspects as they didn’t know before. You must keep in mind that people always intend to listen about what can do some good for them.

Last but not least is the use of such language as flows well. While writing articles about some subjects you can use phrases and words that don’t flow well in spoken language but one mustn’t use them while writing a speech.
