Video games and their popularity:

Playing video games are unquestionably one of the most popular pastimes of more than half of the world’s kids and teenagers. In fact with immense technological development, video games are no longer just restricted to any particular age bracket. The popularity of the video game has been so much so that it has transcended boundaries of age and nationality. The latest video games are in great demand, and video game loyalists queue up to buy the latest versions of their favorite video game at soon as it hits the stores, and also new video games that catches their fancy. It is true that there is a lot of money in video games, and the video game vendors of popular video games have been literally raking in the money.

Video games have the potential to catch a person’s attention very fast. In fact video games can be extremely addictive, and quite a number of people have been reported to be suffering from moderate to serious cases of video game addiction. Technology has advanced by leaps and bounds, and with that video games have also undergone a radical change. Nowadays video games have become more interactive, with remarkable graphics, with real life simulation. Online video games, where you can compete against virtual strangers have also become extremely popular. Video games can be played on almost any platform, ranging from cell phones, to handheld gadgets, to personal computers, and even on Xbox and PlayStation. Multiplayer gaming is one of the biggest features of gaming networks and online gaming. Xbox Live, PlayStation Network and WiiWare are some digital media services that allow users to download and play video games very quickly.

The birth of video game movies:

The immense success of video games has directly resulted in the creation of video game movies, which are basically adaptations of the most popular video games like Max Payne, Tron, House of the Dead, Mortal Kombat, Resident Evil, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, Price of Persia: Sands of Time, and indeed many others. The birth of video game movies occurred sometime in the 1980s. None of the video game movies that were created since then could ever match up to the standards of the video games from which they were adapted from, with the possible exception of Lara Croft: Tomb Raider. Most of the video game movies have been absolute flops. The man who single handedly championed the creation of some of the worst video game movies is Uwe Boll. He is a director, producer and screenwriter of German origin who has produced some of the worst movie adaptations of video games that were ever made. His films were produced under the banner of KG Boll Productions. From the early 90s to the present day he continues to make some of the worst movies.

Failure of these video game movies:

None of the video game movies that were produced could ever match up to the standard or the popularity of the video game in question. Film makers like Uwe Bull have tried to cash in on the popularity of video games, but have ended up creating some of the worst films ever made. The most important reason behind the failure of video game movies is probably the tendency of a film adaptation of a video game to differ drastically from the video game itself. Video game loyalists could not take it in their stride and consequently most video game movies have bombed at the box office. Film adaptations of video games have been mostly done by Uwe Boll, a German film maker who has been dubbed as the Ed Wood of video game movies. For those who are still clueless, Ed Wood is regarded as the worst film maker of all time.

Uwe Boll, the Ed Wood of video game movies:

Uwe Boll has unsuccessfully tried to cash in on the video game craze by directing and producing a string of video game movies that have been critical and commercial failures. Uwe Boll has been producing movies from the 1990s till date, and none of the movies that he made could ever attain any success. He has been ridiculed as one of the worst film makers of all time, yet he still continues to produce and direct video game movies with enormous zeal. Uwe Boll has directed and produced a number of movies under the KG Boll banner. Some of these movies include: Blackwoods (2002), Heart of America (2002), House of the Dead (2003), Alone in the Dark (2005), Blood Rayne (2005), Seed (2007), Postal (2007), Far Cry (2008), They Wait (2008), Stoic (2009), Rampage (2009), Darfur (2009), Final Storm (2010), Bluberella (2011), Auschwitz (2011) and In the Name of the King (2011).

Lara Croft- the only exception:

Most of the worst video game movies have bombed at the box office, and have been both critical and commercial failures. The only exception is Lara Croft: Tomb Raider which has become extremely popular, and has won rave reviews. This is perhaps the only instance where a film version of a video game could achieve some success. But the success of Lara Croft: Tomb Raider is thought be an exception to the general fate of video game movies. Many are of the opinion that this movie was a success solely because of the popularity of the actress Angelina Jolie.

Worst video game movies ever:

Max Payne is probably one of the worst video game movies ever and it has received hundreds of negative reviews. Rotten Tomatoes gave it a rating of 16%. Max Payne was a 2008 noir action film that was directed by John Moore. Max Payne video game loyalists cried foul the moment this movie was released. It wasn’t loyal to the video game, and couldn’t match up to the standards of the Max Payne video game. As a result this movie was dubbed as one of the worst video game movies ever made.

No video game movie has been able to match up to the success of the immensely popular video games from which they were adapted from. Video game movies are now a dying genre as people have realized that keep up to the high expectations of video game fanatics is by no means an easy task.

There are many emotions which are aroused by the game soccer but one emotion supersedes all others. There is so much champions do with ease that the rest of us can never hope to accomplish even with the most prolonged, dedicated and scientific preparation but it does not make us feel inferior or inadequate. On the contrary, the wonder and marvel at what one of our fellow human beings can do is life-enhancing: make us even perform better in our respective professional fields. Soccer players are always looked upon with the highest degree of respect.

Top Soccer Players

Here is a list of the top soccer players of all times.

The one word which can be used to describe him would obviously be “terror”. His mere presence would terrorize the opponent team and would have been the nightmare of any goalie. He was a prodigy, incomparable, and probably, someone this world will never see again in the next 100 years. He simply is a football legend one of the top soccer players the world has ever known.

2. Zinedine Zidane

Zindane is very popular French who has an unmatched passion for the game. His performance in the 1998 FIFA world cup is the highlight of his career. He has been three times recognized by FIFA as “world player of the year”. He also won the golden ball in 1998 and 2006.The headbutting incidence also made him very popular .His achievements would never successfully represent the passion he had for the game. However he is still the greatest footballer France has ever produced.

3. Cristiano Ronaldo

Some do it by power, others use skills but rarely do players combine all qualities and executes with perfection He skills include dribble, astounding crosses, long range efforts, juggle, free kick, never ending stamina and great accuracy.
A complete package who can with both fetes, serious pace, his high which he can achieve when he jumps for the ball, perfect body shape, unforgettable free kicks and last but not the least he is from Portugal and unarguably he is the player they have ever produced and is undoubtedly one of the top soccer players of all times.

4. Ronaldo (Ronaldo Luiz Nazario Da Lima)

“Speed” is what describes this great player of Brazil and a true performer and loved by his countrymen for rising to the occasion and bringing glory to his country. The most unique feature of this striker was the speed with which he would strike and hardly left any chance for the opponent to react. Many said he played only half to his potential due to his frequent injuries.

5. Diego Maradona

He is a legend who has given immense joy to their countrymen by the miracles that he performed. Although his career was short-lived and was affected by cocaine addiction his achievements include two astounding goals against England, one scored with his hand and now remembered as the “Hand of God,” and another that saw him single handedly take on a pack of defenders. Perhaps one of the best soccer players that ever played on the field he will always be loved by football players all across the globe.

6. Ronaldinho

He is the absolute master of the art free kick. His achievements were often overshadowed by his fellow countrymen Ronaldo who played in the same era. He was also named in the FIFA 100, a list of the greatest footballers and in the FIFPro World XI consecutively from 2004–2007 he won his Champions League in 2006 and the Ballon d’Or in 2005.

He is another player known for free kicks. He was a good finisher and world’s best player of the early 80′s. He is popularly known as “white Pele”. His shots had power pace and accuracy but free kicks were his trademarks.

8. Franz Beckenbauer

This great defender from Germany was a game changer. He played the dual role of captain and manager for his national team and his team also won the world cup in 1974 and 1990 under him. He also won three European Cup championships. He won the title of “European Footballer of the Year” in 1972 and 1976.

9. Jari Litmanen

He was among the few players who came to the limelight as a midfielder where he served as a first choice captain between 1996–2008. His international career has run from 1989 to date, making him the only footballer to play in International arena in four different decades.

10. Lev Yashin

He had taken the attention of all football fans by his excellent goal keeping. He will always be remembered for his goalkeeping skills not only by his countrymen but all over the world. Yashin was associated with Moscow Dynamo club. He tended goal for the national team in three World Cups. Dynamo won five league championships and three cups. He won the gold medal in 1956 Olympics. He was one of the finest goal keepers of all time.

Every sport has its own set of heroes who bring joy to their countrymen by the glory they bring to their country and change the way the game is played and also raise the game to a whole new level and set standards which are difficult to match and selecting any ten of them is really very difficult.

Just like most of you people out there, even I love classic American cars! From among the several options available, I have compiled a list of the top 10 classic American cars for your guidance.

Top American Cars

1. 1953 Chevrolet Corvette

It was introduced in America as the first two – seat sports car. Although it began as a slow performer, it later gained a lot of momentum and soon became an “American icon”. Only three hundred Corvette cars were rolled out in that year, thus making it very rare. Moreover, as opposed to the current red color Vettes you see on the road, the 1953 Corvette was available only in white color.

2. 1967 Pontiac GTO

It had a classic split grill design, which is a common feature among the muscle cars you find. Though it debuted as an alternative for the 1963 Pontiac LeMans, GTO later became a model series of its own in 1966 but ended in 1967, hence making it among the best American classic cars of all times. This model had amazing features like bucket seats, duel exhaust, a big 400 cid motor, the 400 HO performance option and also having option for Ram Air induction.

3. 1964-70 Ford Mustang

Its look and features were so attractive that there was great demand for this classic American car at the dealers, whether to have a look, or to buy one. In spite of the fact that the earliest models did not have adjustable passenger seats, the Ford Mustang is regarded as the second longest running production vehicle in the history of Ford manufacturers.

4. 1969 Dodge Coronet R/T and Super Bee

Both these varieties of cars were very popular among people and hence, both find a place in this list. The R/T (or road/track performance) option was available on many Dodge models from the year 1967. In 1969, the Super Bee was launched as a light weight car, with the base 383 cid and bigger Hemi than the R/T models.

5. 1969 Plymouth Roadrunner

This model was marketed among the young audience as an affordable car. The car did not compromise on performance and suspension features. To make it more appealing, its makers licensed the Warner Brothers cartoon character for its naming and mascot uses and featured the car with the “beep beep” sound instead of the typical horn. Its impressive speed and design finds it a place in the list of top 10 classic American cars.

6. 1959 Cadillac

This classic American car was huge and beautifully built, although it seemed too gaudy to go out with it. Its “tailfin” design put an end to an entire era of the typical automotive designs. The 1959 model boasted of another unique design- a mimic of the front grill design in the rear part as well.

7. 1969 Ford Fairlane/ Torino Cobra

Another Ford car in the list of top American classic cars! The Torino designation was an option package for the mainstream Fairlane models until the year 1969, when the Torino became a separate line of cars by the Ford. There is often a debate regarding its naming convention as it is also sometimes referred to as the Torino GT or Fairlane Cobra.

There were two kinds of body styles in this line of cars- a hardtop (or formal roof) and the more common fastback (or sports roof). It had standard features and speed, Ram Air option which accelerated the performance peak, locking rear differential and other such amazing features. The fastback version was more sold than the hardtop version.

8. 1969 AMC SC/ Rambler

This was another no-frills car, hence priced quite low. It was the result of a small car big engine strategy, which worked well. The most attractive feature of the car was the large Ram Air induction hood scoop and also a prominent paint combination. The most popular cars surviving now is of the “A” trim design.

9. 1963 Impala Z11 427

The Impala line of cars by Chevrolet was among the top favorites of muscle car lovers. The 1963 models of the car had better and improved features like the 429 cid, special heads, valves, two-piece aluminium intake, and dual quads. The hoods, fenders and bumpers were also made of aluminium to reduce the weight of the car. The 1963 Impala was very rare, and only 7 of them can be found today.

10. 1964 Ford Thunderbolt

To keep up with the rising competition from other manufacturers in the market, Ford introduced this car as “purely designed for racing”. It was characterized by plexiglass windows and fiberglass body panels. Its interiors lacked comforts like armrests, mirrors, sound-dampening insulations, radio and heater. Because of all this, it was not appropriate for daily usage and hence, only 100 cars were sold in the year 1964.

The list of top classic American cars given above is just a brief list of the many classic American cars that one can check out.

Long before 3D animations and stunning cinematography and sound effects, there were already silent films. Silent films are films that don’t have recorded sound effects, not even spoken dialogues. Background music was not recorded then but played live by a pianist or some other musician. The actors had to act out everything, which, when you think about it, is pretty much amazing. They had to use various techniques just to let their viewers get the idea of what it was they were trying to convey.

There had been hundreds of films of this kind that were produced, and following is a list of 15 of the most entertaining, the most popular for some reason or other, and the most influential of them all.

1915, The Birth of a Nation

A 3-hour Civil War epic from D.W. Griffith, The Birth Of A Nation, is a definite must-see. It’s been said to have paved the way for the new generation of movies with close-ups, camera pans, and eyeline matches. It was a highly successful film possibly due to the controversy that evolved after the war involving racist depictions of slaves. Accordingly, this film was what inspired the Ku Klux Klan to reform.

1916, Intolerance

This is another film from D.W. Griffith. Offended by the negative publicity of his other film, Birth of A Nation, Griffith strikes back with a vengeance with Intolerance, a film which features four different stories, specifically the depiction of the struggles of workers during the industrial revolution, the story of Christ’s Passion, the fall of Babylon, and Bartholomew’s Day Massacre in France. Such stories are expertly interwoven together to arrive at one major theme – intolerance.

1920¸The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari

A horror film about a doctor and his sleepwalking servant who’s thought to have anything to do with the murders. The ending of the film is quite unexpected, the reason, perhaps, could be due to the fact that the original ending would have had negative undertones to the high and mighty in politics.

1922, Nosferatu

Another horror film that would have been based from Dracula, however, because the producers were not able to secure the rights, the film had to be edited anew and the plot somehow changed. Director F.W. Murnau did a tremendous job in using shadows and silhouettes to create a horrific-looking character.

1924, Sherlock, Jr

Very comical, this film had the legendary Buster Keaton perform a role as a movie projectionist and janitor studying to become a detective at the same time. Sherlock, Jr., has been hailed as one of Keaton’s best.

1924, Greed

This film earned the title as the most expensive picture during its period. The story revolves around the life of a dentist whose wife wins in the lottery but gets obsessed with money. Originally, Greed took nearly 9 hours but was drastically cut down to only four hours.

1925, The Phantom of the Opera

Released in 1925, The Phantom of the Opera is based on Gaston Leroux’s novel of the same title. What’s striking about this film is the makeup worn by the film’s star Lon Chaney. Chaney himself did his eyes, painting his sockets a deep black. The tip of his nose was pulled up and pinned in place using a wire. His nostrils were painted black and he wore a set of jagged false teeth into his mouth so he would look exactly like what he’s supposed to look – the Phantom.

1925, The Gold Rush

A definite winner, one of Charlie Chaplin’s best for sure. Chaplin as the Tramp participates in the gold rush in Alaska and finds himself in an unlikely adventure. The Gold Rush is heartwarming and hilarious, not at all cold and dramatic as its poster seemed to make the impression of.

Photo by deSingel International Arts Campus

1925, The Battleship Potemkin

A Russian film directed by Sergei Eisenstein that tells of the mutiny that happened in the early part of the 20th century following the rebellion of the crew of Potemkin (a Russian battleship) against their officers. A Communist propaganda film, no less.

1927, The General

Another winner from Buster Keaton. Keaton is a young railroad engineer who dreams to serve his country in the Civil War. Unfortunately, when he tries to enlist as a soldier, he is turned down, so Keaton returns home instead. The following year, The General, which is actually a train, is hijacked by Union soldiers, and Keaton single handedly stops them. The film boasts of action sequences that make use of real, running steam trains, and one scene in particular – that of a bridge that collapses at the same time that a railroad train crosses it.

Photo wikimedia.org

1927, Metropolis

A modern sci-fi flick, the first of its kind. Set in futuristic urban dystopia, Metropolis depicts capitalism, evaluating the crisis that goes on between the workers and employers. The release of this movie has paved the way for other sci-fi movies, notably Star Wars and Blade Runner. Metropolis holds the record as one of the most expensive silent films ever produced.

1927, Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans

Considered by many as an all-time best, Sunrise is a story of a marriage that almost failed wherein the man is charmed by a tramp from the city who tries to convince him to kill his wife by drowning her. But he is not able to do it and realizes that he loves his wife. So they give their marriage a second chance, and how they do it in the film is what keeps viewers from watching it again and again and again.

1928, The Passion of Joan of Arc

A stunning portrayal by Renee Jeanne Falconetti of the life of French national hero and saint, Joan of Arc! The film has used close-ups and not enough makeup to put emphasis on realism. C onsidered lost for many years, until an almost complete print was found years later, The Passion of Joan of Arc is one silent movie you should not fail to see.

1929, Un chien Andalou

It certainly looks like weird films may have begun as early as 1929, with the showing of Un chien Andalou. One unforgettable scene in this film was a grisly image of an eyeball being cut open, a clear indication that Andalou was born out of the warped state of mind of director Luis Bunuel and painter Salvador Dali.

1931, City Lights

The last of Charlie Chaplin silent movies, City Lights has the Tramp falling in love with a blind flower salesgirl who mistakes him for a wealthy man. In an attempt to hold on to the illusion, the Tramp obtains some money that enables him to pay for an operation that would restore the girl’s eyesight.

Dangerous Roads

Driving a car is dangerous at any time. There are more deaths that are attributed to some type of automobile accidents around the world. There are a number of things that need to be considered as there are several roads in the world that are more highly mentioned on these charts as being dangerous than others.

There are so many different roads that are known for being dangerous that it is hard to consider these roads and the overall safety of those who are driving or riding on these roads. Most of the roads of the world that are considered to be the most dangerous are working through some different types of terrain that simply could be considered that there were no different areas of the world. These different types of terrain include that these roads are crossing over waters, rocks, mountains, stones and steep slopes.

There are many different roads in the world that should be considered as part of the most dangerous. The following roads are the most dangerous roads in the world.

North Yungas Road

The Road of Death (as it is known by both locals and those who are unfamiliar with the area as well) or the North Yungas Road in Bolivia is considered to be the most dangerous road in the world. This road is a mere ten feet wide and stretches for miles on the side of a mountain. The road runs for over forty miles in these conditions.

Sichuan-Tibet Highway

Another road that is considered to be very dangerous is the Sichuan-Tibet Highway in China. This highway is another highway that is running through mountains. Further the highway is high and narrow and has a higher than average chance of clouds due to climate and elevation conditions. The highway runs for two thousand and twenty eight kilometers through the steep elevations and mountainous terrain.

Pan-American Highway

The Pan American Highways are also known as being extremely dangerous. These roads run for nearly thirty thousand miles from Alaska to South America. The Guiness Book of World Records has named this road as the longest motorable road in the world as well. This road has rough terrain and goes through a number of different types of land formations as well as running through different various climates and temperatures. There are some common problems with these roads which include that there is a high chance for flash floods and landslides as well as there being narrow curves and steep cliffs.

Coastal Roads

There is also a lot of danger that can be experienced in the Coastal Roads of Croatia. These roads are located on the coast and the average speed is somewhat higher than that of the other roads on this list or other roads around the world. These roads account for many of the injuries and deaths that are associated with driving and issues.

Guoliang Tunnel

Another road in China that has been considered to be dangerous is Guoliang Tunnel in the Taihang Mountains. This road takes it name from the Chinese meaning for road that does not tolerate any mistakes. Originally this tunnel was considered a gateway to the outside world for those who were living in one remote village. They created the tunnel in order to help them to get to the outside world however the tunnel is very small and narrow. The tunnel is a mere fifteen feet high and twelve feet wide which can make driving a scary thing.

Luzon the Halsema Highway

Located in the Philippines on the island of Luzon the Halsema Highway is known for being dangerous. There are many things that would need to be considered when driving on this road. There is a high chance of landslides on this road as well as parts of the road being unpaved and big stones being in the way or the possibility of extremely cloudy conditions as well.

Grimsel Pass

The Grimsel Pass in Switzerland is known for being dangerous as there are a number of things that should be considered. These are that the road is running through the mountains and that the pass is two thousand one hundred and sixty five meters high. This road runs between the valley of the Rhone River and the Haslital Valley.

Karakoram Highway

If you are traveling from Pakistan to China by ways of the Karakoram Highway there is much chance for danger as well. This road is the highest paved road in the world and is known to be a tourist attraction for the different various views of the mountains that are available.

Skippers Canyon

Another dangerous route to travel is Skippers Canyon in New Zealand. This road is known for its beauty as well as its danger as the road is carved out of the rocks. The road is narrow and unsealed and it is even warned by rental car companies in the area that it is road by which they should not travel.

Russian Siberian Road

The Russian Siberian Road to Yakutsk is another very dangerous road. This road is a government owned road and the only road that is available to get into Yakutsk. The road is very dangerous when it has rained as the road is made of clay that can quickly turn into a mud. This mud has been known to swallow vehicles and even tractors.

Rural Russian Road

There is a rumored story that connects one rural Russian road to dangerous gases that are seeping out of the ground. Although this road has appeared to just be another road and somewhat normal there are an unusual number of accidents and those who have accidents report not remembering anything prior to the accident and seem to be drugged after the accident.

Some other roads that are significantly more dangerous include the different various roads that are located in Nepal, Tibet and Bangladesh. These areas have roads that are not properly cared for and that seem to have more problems with motorists and accident rates.

Traveling can be scary enough alone but add in traveling on one of the world’s most dangerous roads and you too might have problems with being able to get home safe and sound.

Bizarre Products

1. Men’s bra

Now as much as we are all for equality of rights between men and women, inventing men’s bra is just quite ridiculous. Not just because men are not biologically built to wear a bra but also because no man in his sane mind would possibly want to wear a bra? Well whoever could imagine that the image of the macho, hulky men would be reduced to such a funny figure with the imagery of him wearing the bra! That is exactly what these men’s bra advertisements have been showing at least.

2. Handerpants

Yes you probably did guess it right. The handerpants are supposed to be underpants for the hand! Now if you think that sounds bizarre, you probably need to take a look at the picture for handerpants. Now the photo is just peculiar and extremely strange. Enough to completely put off anyone who was actually planning to buy handerpants in the first place!

3. Cell Phone Handsets

Now do you actually think it is a very good idea to manufacturer handsets for a cell phone, considering cell phones were invented to get rid of the concept of handsets in the first place? Well tell that to the geniuses who actually thought that they would have a market for this product. Also it looks atrocious because the handset is bigger and uglier than the actual cell phone. Imagine carrying that around in your purse? It won’t be possible to actually do that so whoever came up with this brilliant idea wasn’t too bothered about the customer convenience!

4. Diet Water

Of course invented in Japan. Where else can the funniest, strangest and most bizarre products be actually found? It is also interesting to actually perhaps find out who would be foolish enough to fall for such peculiar marketing gimmicls. Since water to begin with has no calories, we are all intensely wondering, with the utmost concentration, that what exactly is diet water meant to achieve? It is quite meaningless to answer such questions while listing the most bizarre products of all times.

5. Horse Meat Ice Cream

The Japanese seem to have invented all types of flavors when it comes to ice cream. While most ice cream makers want to experiment with perhaps the favorite strawberry or fudge flavor, here we have the horse meat ice cream! Now when it comes to such innovative ideas it is difficult to understand what was actually going through the minds of the innovators. Was it done as a joke? Possibly not because the Japanese ice creamers went into the trouble of manufacturing entire tubs of horse meat ice cream! Well, some people just have such a whacky sense of imagination that it is quite hilarious and also let’s not forget bizarre!

6. Mother’s Milk

Of course manufacturing mother’s milk in containers is taking consumerism to an all new level of err bizarreness? It is almost hilarious to see the entire range of baby products out in the market but this is well just ridiculous. They are packaged and sold as authentic mother’s milk. Err whose mother? Should we even dare ask, well let’s not. Then it will just get too complicated for the product manufacturers. Also, anyone who came up with such a crazy idea probably needs to go get their head checked by a shrink!

7. Pepsi White

Once again Pepsi White can only be found in Japan. Apparently the fizzy drink has been combined with yogurt to provide an all new flavor for the insatiable Japanese market who seems obsessed with uncanny products. Wondering how it tastes? Well, if you are wondering what it tastes like, then you must be quite daring to begin with. Because the a yogurt flavored Pepsi just sounds very bizarre and also atrocious for anyone who likes a fizzy drink.

8. Urinal Cake Candle

With this one, I think we are still trying to figure out what the motivation was exactly behind the urinal cake candle. It smells of urine when the candle is lighted, and err is that supposed to be the selling point? Not only does it sound very strange but we are quite convinced that it smells even worse. So if you come across this product anytime soon, you probably know that you definitely need to avoid this. Also, keep hoping that no one dares gift you this ever!

9. Giant Remote

The giant remote is so huge that well its difficult to control it even remotely. So you see where the complication arises. But in case you are planning to keep the television away from your kids, then purchasing the giant remote is possibly a very good idea! This way they will just find it way too difficult to hold on to the remote.

10. Climate Change Chocolate Bar

Now this bizarre product is famous because it can adapt to climatic change. If you think that sounds funny, then chocoholics should definitely go out there in the market to purchase one of these. It’s hilarious because these products possibly change color and taste depending upon the climatic shift. It definitely cannot get funnier and possibly won’t when it comes to the bizarrest products ever!

11. Fart Pads

So if you have a bad tummy and find yourself constantly launching those farts, then you need a fart pad. As the name suggests this will definitely well cushion your farts and make it less audible. It sounds strange, looks funny and it doesn’t get any funnier as well as bizarre!

12. Inflatable Toast

The inflatable toast is meant to make the bread get bigger and better? Well, it is difficult to claim whether your early morning breakfast will get any better or not but the inflatable toast is a pretty great idea and as you can imagine quite hilarious. So make sure that for your breakfast you can purchase the inflatable toast maker.

13. Bacon Bra

The bacon has all sorts of weird products attached to it. But the strangest ever has to be the bacon bra. Whoever actually thought that women would be okay to wear such bras? Weird imagination these manufacturers seem to have.

14. Baby Bottom Fan

Made exclusively for your baby’s bottom! So for children living in the tropical you can make sure that they are very comfortable by just attaching fans to their bottom?

15. Prenatal Education System

Now this has to be the weirdest baby product ever. You are supposed to put it around your stomach when you are expecting a child and there is a high possibility that your kid will pick up a lot from it.

This is our list of the most bizarre products ever. Some places like Japan just seem to have an affinity for manufacturing the weirdest of products. And some targets like children just seem to have all the bizarre products attributed to them. While most of these products are actually very useless and quite funny, one cannot help but wonder what prompted people to actually spend a lot of money in manufacturing such bizarre items on a large scale basis! Well at least they provide a whole lot of laughs if not any other utility.

Would you like to know some interesting facts about lightning? Well, it’s a beautiful sight to see all right, but it’s also rather dangerous and unpredictable, and can be quite impossible to predict. Today scientists all over the world are gathering information on lightning, monitoring the temperature, and even creating it artificially in laboratories. This article will tell you some interesting facts about lightning.

Did you know that each year, our earth experiences almost an average of 25 million lightning strikes? This is during an average of 100,000 thunderstorms! That roughly translates to almost a hundred lightning bolts per second. Makes you quake in your shoes, doesn’t it? You would also be surprised to know that when lightning strikes, thunder can be heard from about 12 miles away from the starting point. The average length of a bolt of lightning is almost a quarter of a second – and there are 3-4 strikes usually.

Lightning also travels at a frighteningly high speed – approximately 60,000 miles per second and the average length of a single lightning bolt is 2-3 miles. Plus, the temperature can get really high too! It might reach 50,000 degrees Fahrenheit, and that’s 5 times the temperature of the surface of the sun! a single lightning bolt usually travels through twisted paths in the air – these can be as wide as the breadth of a finger, or as wide as six or ten miles. That’s quite a range, isn’t it?

Lightning bolts are also knows to have tremendously high amounts of energy. For instance, the energy in a single lightning strike can be used to provide power to a 100 watt light bulb for almost 90 days! And if you think that the myth “Lightning never strikes the same place twice” is true – think again, lightning has been known to strike the same place many times. And usually, we think that when a tree gets hit by lightning, it burns right to the ground, but that doesn’t happen all the time. Sometimes, they can take direct hits, and still not get burnt – what happens is basically the electricity passes over the wet surface, and then gets transferred to the ground, where it gets neutralized.

Have you seen “Sweet Home Alabama”? If you have, then you know about the scene where Reese Witherspoon and Josh Lucas dig up a glass ball from the sand, after the lightning has struck. Well, that is actually based on fact, as glass does really form when lightning strikes sandy soil. If you ever walk on the beach right after a storm, you might actually be able to dig up bits of glass. And if you’re out in a storm and you’re scared of the lightning, you would do well to know that if your clothes are wet, the lightning will harm you less.

In March 1991, there were more than 15,000 lightning strikes in a six-hour continuous storm that raged over Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois and Missouri. During that time, the skies had constant lightning. The Empire State Building, in New York City, gets hit by lightning almost 23 times a year. Do you think our earth is the only planet to be subject to lightning? Well, think again. Planets like Venus, Uranus, Jupiter and Saturn do get hit by lightning too.

Lightning has some very interesting beliefs from history. For instance, the ancient Aztec civilization believing that lightning and the dead went hand in hand, and the lightning split the earth, and went into its very depths. And in the Middle Ages, people believed that the ringing of the Church bells expelled evil spirits. Thunder and lightning were both considered diabolical, so during a thunderstorm, monks continuously made efforts to ring bells. No wonder that most of the victims hit by lightning during the Middle Ages were bell-ringers! Are you feeling sorry for them?

There are many people out there who have an irrational fear of lightning. This phobia is called keraunophobia. Would you like to know how many people are killed by lightning in the United States every year? Well, approximately 200. That’s quite a staggering number. Florida is known to be the Deadliest State, because it has twice as many lightning victims as compared to other states.

Do you think you will get hit by lightning? Well, the chances of that happening are 1 in 7,000,000. That’s about the same possibility as you dying from falling out of bed. But there are ways you can avoid getting hit by lightning. For instance, a major thing you should know about is that you should never ever talk on the phone while there is a storm raging outside. Cell phones attract lightning, and in fact, almost 1% of all lightning causalities in the United States were due to people talking on corded phones inside their homes during a thunderstorm.

But you would be pleased to know that at least 71% of those struck by lightning survive. Those who die usually die of cardiac arrest. But you should know that the survivors sometimes have to deal with serious psychological and health problems like insomnia, loss of memory, loss of sensitivity, or even constant pain in the body.

There are many weird stories about lightning doing the rounds, which scientists have not been able to explain. For instance, there was this park ranger called Roy Sullivan, who between the years of 1942 and 1977, was struck by lightning a total of seven times! In 1942, his thumb and leg were burned, in 1969, his eyebrows were burned, and in 1970, his shoulder was burned. Then in 1972, his hair was burned, in 1973, it was his leg, and then in 1976, lightning targeted his ankle. Then finally in 1977, his chest and abdomen were burnt. Finally, after much depression and many psychological problems, in 1983, he committed suicide. Bizarre, isn’t it? Wait till you hear about Martha Maiko.

Martha Maiko was a Bulgarian woman, in 1935; she took in an American tourist named Randolph Eastman, who wanted to take shelter from the storm in her house. They were married a week later, but after just 2 weeks, he succumbed to a hit from lightning. Maiko then married again, a man from France called Charles Mort. When they went on a trip to Spain, he was struck by lightning. Maiko went back to Sofia, and started undergoing therapy to deal with her depression. She ended up marrying her doctor. They tied the knot in Berlin, but when they were en route to France, lightning hit the car and her husband died on the spot. Maiko didn’t remarry again!

Want to know some more facts about lightning? Well, there are basically two types of lightning – the first type is positive. The second type is negative, and the negative strikes are more common that the positive ones. Lightning, as stated before, releases huge amounts of energy. For instance, the energy released by the strikes can generate nitrogen oxides (from the un-reactive nitrogen present in the air). In fact, these nitrogen oxides are quite beneficial for plants, which use them for growth.

Lightning, over the years, has been subject to fears, curiosity, and many question. We do find it beautiful, but it would be suitable to remember that it can be very dangerous, so people should learn to be careful during thunderstorms, when lightning strikes.

1) Leafy Seadragon:

Inspired by the presence of Dragons in Chinese methodology, this unique looking creature, which floats in seaweed-filled water, is named “Leafy Dragon”. Its unique shape and green, gold and yellow lines along with its body, makes it completely camouflaged, when floating along with the seaweed. Having no teeth or stomach they feed exclusively on mysidopsis shrimp. Seadragon mating process is same as Seahorse mating process.

2) Sun bear:

Standing 4 ft in length, found in tropical rainforest of Southeast Asia, makes this bear the smallest member of the bear family. Distinctive pale orange-yellow horseshoe shaped marking on a chest and same color around the muzzle and the eyes reflect its name. The Sun Bear does not hibernate, and, as a result, it can reproduce year-round. The offspring reach sexual maturity after 3-4 years and may live up to 30 years in captivity.

3) Emperor Tamarin:

You might find it interesting that because of the resemblance between this creature and German emperor Wilhelm II, this animal is named as “Emperor Tamarin”. Weighing approximately 300 to 400 g, this animal reaches the length of 24cm to 26cm, with a tail of 35cm. What makes it unique is its long, white mustache, which extends to both sides beyond the shoulders. They live in family groups of 3 to 8 individuals. Emperor tamarins usually form mixed troops with another kind of monkey, the saddleback tamarin. In these troops, the tamarins help each other by improving their ability to detect predators. While emperors seem to be better at detecting aerial predators, saddlebacks are better at looking for terrestrial ones.

4) White-faced Saki Monkey:

The White-faced Saki (Pithecia pithecia), also known as the Guianan Saki and the Golden-faced Saki, is a species of saki monkey, a type of New World monkey, found in Brazil, French Guiana, Guyana, Suriname, and Venezuela. The difference between the sexes is considerable. Adult males are black, with the striking white face. The females are brownish-grey and have only a narrow white stripe on the face between the inner eye and mouth. Color differences like this between the sexes are termed ‘sexual dichromatism’. They have long, shaggy coats and non-prehensile, long bushy tails. Adult males weigh around 2 kg females are slightly smaller at 1.7 kg

5) Proboscis Monkey:

Also knows as Long Nose Monkey. Length of its nose makes this monkey stand out in the monkey family. Purpose of its long nose has not been identified yet. This Monkey also has a large belly, as a result of its diet. Its digestive system is divided into several parts, with distinctive gut flora, which help in digesting leaves. This digestive process releases a lot of gas, resulting in the monkey’s “bloated” bellies. A side-effect of this unique digestive system is that it is unable to digest ripe fruit, unlike most other simians. The diet consists mainly of fruits, seeds and leaves.

6) Axolotl:

The Axolotl (or ajolote) (Ambystoma mexicanum) is the best-known of the Mexican neotenic mole salamanders belonging to the Tiger Salamander complex. Larvae of this species fail to undergo metamorphosis, so the adults remain aquatic and gilled. The species originates from the lake underlying Mexico City. Axolotls are used extensively in scientific research due to their ability to regenerate most body parts, ease of breeding, and large embryos.

7) Aye-eye:

The Aye-aye (Daubentonia madagascariensis) is a strepsirrhine native to Madagascar that combines rodent-like teeth with a long, thin middle finger to fill the same ecological niche as a woodpecker. It is the world’s largest nocturnal primate, and is characterized by its unique method of finding food; it taps on trees to find grubs, then gnaws holes in the wood and inserts its elongated middle finger to pull the grubs out.

 Tarsier:

Tarsier is a tiny animal, measuring about 85 to 160 millimeters (3.35 to 6.30 in) in height makes this one of the smallest primates. The average adult is about the size of a human fist and will fit very comfortably in the human hand. Tarsiers have enormous eyes and long feet. Their feet have extremely elongated tarsus bones, which is how they got their name. They are primarily insectivorous, and catch insects by jumping at them. They are also known to prey on birds and snakes. As they jump from tree to tree, tarsiers can catch even birds in motion.

9) Dumbo Octopus:

The Dumbo Octopus gets its name from the two fins which look like and are situated like ears. ‘Dumbo’ will swim using these larges fins and with the help of its arms it is a formidable swimmer and this shows when ’Dumbo’ needs to get somewhere fast, like away from a predator! Their reproduction happens by laying eggs and apparently the dumbo octopus hasn’t a special breeding season and it feeds itself with little sea creatures like shrimps and worms.

11) Blob Fish:

The Blob fish is without a doubt in one of the ugliest fish in the ocean. These saltwater fish have what resembles a large nose in between two eyes and almost seem to be frowning! I guess with an ugly mug like that you would be frowning too. This deep sea fish is often found at extreme depths off of the coasts of Tasmania and Australia. For this reason the Blob fish is rarely seen by the human.

12) Shoe bill:

The Shoebill, Balaeniceps rex also known as Whalehead is a very large bird related to the storks. It derives its name from its massive shoe-shaped bill.
The Shoebill is a very large bird, averaging 1.2 m (4 ft) tall, 5.6 kg (12.3 lbs) and 2.33 m (7.7 ft) across the wings. The adult is mainly grey, the juveniles are browner. It lives in tropical east Africa, in large swamps from Sudan to Zambia. Long in the leg and broad in the wing, standing well over a metre high and dressed entirely in dull, scaly grey, the Shoebill is dominated by its feeding apparatus, a huge and powerful appendage ending in a ferocious nail-like hook. Violent and primitive in appearance, the bird has caused taxonomists constant vexation and bafflement over its affinities.

13) Yeti Crab:

Yeti Crab also known as Kiwa hirsuta is a crustacean discovered in 2005 in the South Pacific Ocean. This decapods’, which is approximately 15 cm (6 inches) long, is notable for the quantity of silky blond setae (resembling fur) covering its pereiopods (thoracic legs, including claws). Its discoverers dubbed it the “yeti lobster” or “yeti crab”.

15) Narwhal:

The narwhals are usually in pods of about 10 up to 100 whales that swim solely in the Arctic waters. The name Narwhal means “corpse whale” because it often swims belly up, laying motionless for several minutes. The Narwhal is an Arctic aquatic mammal, one of two species of white whale. The most conspicuous characteristic of male narwhal is their single extraordinarily long tusk, an incisor that projects from the left side of the upper jaw and forms a left-handed helix.

The jerboa, found in the deserts of Mongolia and China, is listed as endangered on the IUCN Red List. The breeding period of the Long-eared Jerboa occurs twice per season, and this mating act happens right after one has awoken from hibernating. The average number of young ranges from two to six. Very little is known when it comes to how they take care of their young

19) Star Nosed Mole:

Like other moles, the star-nosed mole is very powerful in relation to its size. Using its paddle-shaped hands together with a twisting motion of its compact body, it constructs a network of tunnels about 50 cm (1.5 ft.) beneath the surface of the ground, but above the water table. Its nests are made of dried grass and other vegetation. The star-shaped nose is a highly specialized sensory-motor organ, which consists of 11 pairs of fleshy finger-like appendages, or ‘tendrils’. The star, which is less than half an inch in diameter, is divided into a high resolution central fovea region and less sensitive peripheral areas. It is much larger than the nose of other mole species, covering 0.92 cm2 per touch, compared to 0.11 cm2 covered by the noses of other mole species.

In Indian, the name mata mata turtle means “I kill”. It also means “fringed turtle” in Latin. But, today we know it just as the mata mata turtle. This turtle may grow to be about seventeen and a half inches long. The mata mata turtle is often mistaken for rocks and sunken logs. Their brown, black, golden yellow, and orange shells give them this appearance. The adult turtles are usually brown or black.
