This car, named as Etios will be available in two variants, a 1.5 liter sedan and a 1.2 liter hatchback. Both run on gasoline and according to a statement by the manufacturer,  are “one class above”. The car is aimed at family users in India’s rapidly growing automobile market. Popular German car maker Daimler has recently bought a 10% stake in Tesla. The value of the stake is being evaluated at more than half a billion dollars. As per this deal, Daimler will now have increased access to the lithium ion battery technology from Tesla.

It must be remembered that Tesla Motors Inc. was down to just $9 million  in cash late last year. Factors like recession and lower gas prices made it difficult for Tesla to sell of its cars. So the deal certainly does not come across as a bad option for the electric car maker.
