As the world is finally getting all ready and geared up against the latest menace in the form of swine flu, it seems that a shipment of bad news is waiting to be unleashed. According to sources in Washington, health service authorities are now on the verge of having sleepless nights due to a factory logjam.

In other words, an unexpected problem in the form of a factory logjam is threatening to delay the process of putting the liquid into the syringes resulting in a sudden stasis for the entire process which has been so enthusiastically lapped up by the people. The recent estimates reveal that the country is not going to have 120 million doses ready to be distributed by the 15th of October, but instead it has to be settled for 45 million units. The authorities are however hopeful about coming up with a solution.

The Swine Flu Epidemic is the current hot topic of discussion at the World Health Organization’s Annual Meeting. This five day event begins in Geneva and will involve the 193 members of the WHO.

There are reports that Dr. Margaret Chan, Director WHO, will talk about the recommendations of experts on production of swine flu medicine and new flu vaccine. Few sources revealed that different pharmaceutical companies are really ready to begin their production of the new flu vaccine but they are waiting for a decision that has to be made first. It is also required to decide how much vaccine should they make, how to distribute the vaccines and which countries or who must get the vaccines.

Many experts feel that there is no need and no question of swine flu vaccine being produced, but WHO is required to discuss the matter with its members and keep a close track of the spread of the virus. Since its origin in Mexico, the virus spread in most parts of the globe including few European countries, Japan and America. Therefore keeping a track helps the organization to find out how fast the virus spreads and who are the most vulnerable group to it will help WHO take immediate step to prevent it.

According to WHO, nearly 2 billions of new flu vaccine for the H1N1 virus can be produced annually from reliable sources but the preparation of the first batch will take nearly 3-4 months. And making flu vaccines is not a child’s play! Most pharmaceutical companies can produce one vaccine at a time and the production takes several months. It is expected that Ban Ki Moon the UN General Secretary will meet the senior representatives of the vaccine industry but the UN has declined to name the companies who would manufacture the new vaccine.

These swine flu infected pigs have been isolated to prevent the spread of the disease.

The officials also told that it was the first case of pig infection in the country. In pigs swine flu outbreaks are quite regular, but they do not have a risk for food safety, however, this time the health officials have warned against the spread of the disease.

In Alberta province some pigs are considered infected because of a farm worker that got the sickness when he was on Mexico tour and returned to Canada later. Now this traveler has recovered, and the infected pigs are also recovering now. The officials believe that the disease hasn’t yet spread beyond the farm and there is no reported death because of the flu.

Tom Vilsack, the US Agriculture Secretary, says in this connection: “To contain the spread of the disease, all necessary steps have been taken by the Canadian government and the sickened pigs have been isolated to prevent the spread of the disease.

“In United States, there is no report of this infection in pigs right now and the detection of virus in Canada wouldn’t change situation in some US states,” he added.

On the other hand, WHO (World Health Organization) says that no evidence has been found yet that the flu virus is being passed through pigs to humans.

It is published in the associated press of San Francisco just a few times ago; the AMD opportunities are cutting down in the job market day by day. The reason of this breakdown is the heavy explosion of slump in the world trade market.

The investors are facing the risk factors more than the past, as the needs and wants of the local and international people have been badly spoiled, due to the inflation, which led the market gamblers and investors into crack down.

AMD mentioning the ratio of its stocking bonds and shares to the public, that are poorly got down due to the market depression in world, as the value of dollar in the international market has been decreased down.

The news comes as momentum in the notoriously volatile semiconductor industry has turned for the moment against AMD, whose own momentum just a couple of years ago was a major factor in a major restructuring by Intel.

AMD would have never been a performer in the profit business marketing, fortified with the vigor competent whittles, AMD wrap up the priceless marketplace, shares from the Intel and world market would have been confined by them.

This rivalry damage Intel, whose earnings go downstairs piercingly, as a consequence of trailing clients in the direction of AMD along with irately hurtful value en route for keeping elder whittles cutthroat.
AMD falls on tough period, seeing that it face up to escalating rivalry as of Intel, that is recovered a quantity of vanished marketplace distributions through a commanding procession of innovative chips in addition to minor its expenses in the midst of a original industrialized progression.

In the intervening time, a number of AMD’s mainly vital goods are under scrutiny because of out dated products. Long-lasting manufactured goods setback on behalf of AMD’s fresh Opteron server chip, a creation serious on the way to the company’s monetary recuperation, encompassed through a hurtful competition.

AMD’s observing the achievement seeing that an input method toward do violence to Intel in addition toward integrates improved graphics potentials interested in its chip.

Yahoo had already informally rejected Microsoft’s initial bid. However, the giant software company is still waiting for Yahoo’s formal letter of rejection before moving forward towards its next plan. Microsoft’s next step is most likely to appoint a new set of directors which should be done by March 14.

Microsoft could not see a possible reason for increasing its bid for Yahoo. A reliable source had stated that Microsoft is not up to bidding against itself until Yahoo shows up and become willing to cooperate in the bargaining table. New York Times Deal Book had stated that Microsoft is willing to move forward with proxy battle with Yahoo.

Yahoo had remained silent since Microsoft’s offer had been made. According to a Microsoft spokesperson, until Yahoo makes a formal statement and responds to this issue, there is no point for Microsoft to increase its bid. This is similar to bidding against itself.

This formality that Microsoft is waiting for from Yahoo is quite questionable considering that its unsolicited bid which initially amounted to $44.6 billion equivalent to $31 per share had undervalued Yahoo. However, a formal move from Yahoo is most likely expected by the giant software company into order to have the ball back.

For formality’s sake, Microsoft is waiting to receive a letter of rejection coming from Yahoo’s side stating that its offer is being rejected because they believe that Yahoo has a far higher value than what is being offered. Microsoft made a statement in CNET.com that Yahoo should express its willingness to communicate and converse regarding the matter. Microsoft’s response will be available for them within 24 hours. Furthermore, Microsoft stated that they prefer the transaction to be done in a friendly manner.

A banker not involved with this transaction had stated that the probable reason why Yahoo is currently not releasing its statement is because it does not want to engage until it has completely explored and studied all of its other options.

An attorney who refused to be named could not determine strategic advantages with relevance to this action in order to forgo formal response. Moreover, Yahoo may be thinking that a formal letter is inappropriate at this point. 20 days had already passed since Microsoft had made its unsolicited offer.

Meanwhile, Microsoft is making strict considerations with regards to the retention of Yahoo employees which happened to be an important element of the deal.

One report came out stating that later this week; Microsoft had made plans of authorizing a proxy fight. Yahoo did not make any immediate comment on this next step expected from Microsoft.

E-commerce topped the Service Industry with its significant increase in terms of customer satisfaction. Companies in lined with e-commerce reached 81.6 record score based on University of Michigan’s American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI). This score had increased by 2% compared when with the same time last year.

According to University of Michigan, e-commerce business sector took the top spot against the other form of industries in terms of customer satisfaction during last year’s fourth quarter.

E-commerce’s improvement and impressive performance is exceptional considering national ACSI’s usual downward trend as stated by the head of UM index, Claes Fornell. In fact, e-commerce is the only sector that showed improvement in this quarter with consistent customer satisfaction. This is rather impressive because other industries are experiencing some difficulty.

On a macro-overview, ACSI consists of above 200 companies within more than 40 different industries. The entire picture shows that the ACSI went down by 0.4% to 74.9 during the 4th quarter – a decline that involved two consecutive quarters.

The performance of e-commerce was a breakthrough. The score for the category, online retail, was the highest at 83. Online retailers overtook the collective score of the offline retailers which is 74.2. Moreover, all measured companies in the e-business industry had been included among the top 10 companies with the highest scores.

The highest scorer for the quarter in the e-commerce sector was Amazon.com which got a score of 88. Newegg closely followed Amazon.com with 87 and Netflix with a score of 84. Amazon.com had been recognized as the second highest scorer in the ACSI following Heinz for the whole year of 2007.

This quarter, the university merged online retail and online auction category due to the rising overlap of these two as well as the tight competition between them. Ebay, with a score of 81, increased by only 1 point from last year and had remained quite stagnant over the last few years. However since 2004, Amazon.com had rolled its score up by 5% due to its consistent innovations.

The only category in the e-commerce sector that needs more improvement and innovation is the travel industry online. This particular category went down 1.3% to 75 during the 4th quarter as compared to last year. There had also been a drop in the level of satisfaction among its customers online.

Online brokerages had increased 1.3% from last year to 79. The highest scorer was Fidelity which increased by 5% to 84.

Although Yahoo rejected Microsoft’s first bid, this battle is far from being over. Believe it or not, Microsoft is going to continue to push for a deal within the next few days. At this time, it appears that Microsoft is taking all of the appropriate steps to start a proxy battle with Yahoo.

Many people are not aware of what it means to wage a proxy battle. Simplifying this process is no easy task, but there are some details that can be seen on the surface. It is Microsoft’s hopes that after putting together a list of directors to take over Yahoo’s board, that the majority of stockholders would support this effort. If this happens, Microsoft will be able to more or less bully Yahoo into making the transaction.

If Microsoft moves forward with its proxy battle, it is sure to spend a lot of money during the process. Industry experts are predicting that Microsoft would have to spend approximately $20 to $30 million to complete the process. As you can imagine, they would much rather have Yahoo agree to a friendlier takeover. Not only would this save them money, but it would save them a lot of time as well.

Over the next few days it will become clearer if Microsoft plans to move forward with a proxy battle. If they decide that this is the best route, they will need to secure a list of Yahoo’s majority shareholders so that they can contact them one on one. As the process moves forward, at Yahoo’s annual meeting in May, the vote for new directors would take place.

At this time, most industry experts feel that Microsoft will move forward in this direction. Not only will they move forward, but many insiders also agree that they will be successful in their endeavors.

Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates said, “We sent them a letter and said we think that’s a fair offer. There’s nothing that’s gone on other than us stating that we think it’s a fair offer. They should take a hard look at it.”

The question is: what will Yahoo decide to do after they take a comprehensive and hard look at the offer? The answer to this question is sure to come out sooner rather than later.
