The risk of developing asthma is higher in the babies who were frequently given paracetamol in the first 12 months of their life, a new study, which involved more than 200,000 children, suggests.
According the Lancet report, babies who were given paracetamol for fever during the first year of their life had a 46% higher risk of developing asthma five years later.
However, the researchers couldn’t find whether the drug directly increased the risk of asthma or there was some other factor involved.
According to experts, parents can still use the drug for high fever.
