The leading VoIP operator at Skype announced the launch of a latest version of Windows software that keeps updates of Skype either on your Windows tool bar, mobile or even i-phone.

Upgrading through this is really a great thing to experience on your Apple iPhone, iPod or iMac. iPhone Skypers can now regularly check in with their Skype voicemail without turning on their computer. Text messages on Skype will also be shown on your iPhone that will come in the form of chip text messages.

In addition to luggage and support there will be great improvement coming forth as this system develops. Skype’s new design gives a wonderful look and feel while there is little to makeover. But still some restructuring of designs and styles will bring it the cutting edge look that it needs to deal with. All Apple devices will be able to experience the great quality of the upcoming changes. There will be few UI niggles that need to be changed as well. The Skype 4.1 version is now ready to be downloaded by anyone who is using Windows. With the latest range of services one can easily share and transfer files from the iPhone without any hassle.

This is generally a great addition to the service. By fixing a number of bugs this new beta release is a good thing for all iPhone customers.

Renzor has cleared his view point on a blog forum and he emphasized with some clear cut words that seems somewhat discomforting for Apple. According to Renzor, Apple’s attitude is quite comparable to Wal-Mart Stores.

“I had the same problem with Wal-Mart some years back and it was really an issue of hypocrisy and consistency. Wal-Mart had chaotic years just after they insisted that their music would be censored of all vulgarities and they would develop only the clean versions of it.”

“To meet Wal-Mart standard different bands had to edit their words and that changed the art of album only because of the reason that a large number of records is sold by Wal-Mart and now you can see the impact as NIN section is empty there,” he added.

He ended his saying with the message: “Apple you must give a close look to your policies and you must also put your app approval scenario together.”

Renzor also linked his developer post in his Tweets on Twitter:

“v 1.0.3 has been rejected while v1.0 is still live, the reason was the content that this application doesn’t have yet. Apple not letting us to enhance the stability of the current application and we are not allowed to fix bugs related to the issue because of objectionable content.”

As reported on wednesday, Apple has said that its has gone up to 2 percent during the holiday period. Amazingly, it has beaten the expectation levels of Wall Street. But on the other hand, it has gone down the expectations of the analysts and the iphone, iPod makers.

In the first quarter of the fiscal year (ended on Dec 27th) the earning level of Apple Inc. up to $1.61 billion, which was higher than the previous year, i.e. $1.58 billion. The difference was evident in the shares too i.e., $1.76 per share last year and $1.78 per share this year.

Apple’s share value declined previously with the much talked about health conditions of CEO and co-founder Steve Jobs. It has been a great concern for investors as Steve plays a vital part in each process of idealizing, designing, manufacturing, launching and marketing of a new product.

It has been also reported by the Wall Street Journal that an inquiry will undergo regarding the disclosure of Steve’s health. Generally, such matters are not a concern of U.S Securities and Exchange Commission, which will be holding the inquiry. But it is different for Apple, as it is thought that the obvious health conditions had been hidden previously to gain publicity.

Associate dean of the Yale University School of Management, Jeffrey Sonnenfeld, said, “Steve Jobs himself thinks the Steve Jobs mystique is of value — otherwise, why not have other people introduce those products over the past 10 years?”, “Steve Jobs, Martha Stewart and Donald Trump have all made the boss the brand. The boss is the brand at Apple.”

No problem! With over $1 billion profits, Apple shrugs off the world’s economic worries and posts one of its best quarters ever. According to Apple, soaring sales of iPhones and Macs played a key role in this success.

“We have succeeded to sale more phones than RIM and it is, indeed, one of the best quarters in Apple’s history.” A happy Steve Jobs crowed announced.

The company reported $1.14 billion 3Q profit on almost $8 billion sales, which shows an income of $1.26 per diluted share of stock.

Mac computers came forward as a big seller with 21% more units’ sale than the same period during last year. Similarly, iPod saw 8% increase in sale compared to the same period of last year.

According to Job, “It is yet not known how this economic slow down will affect Apple, but we now we have the most powerful product line in the history of the company, best employees as well as the best customers.” Currently the company has $25 billion of cash in the bank without any debt.

The numbers are quite different from Yahoo that also announced financial results today. The company is considering shedding 10% of its workforce globally to save $400 million by the end of this year.

A report in New Media Age tells that the online electronics retailer will start its music service in October. It’s, indeed, quite delightful for music labels who consider that Apple’s iTunes service has a monopoly on web music downloads.

On yesterday, 7 digital announced that it has become the first online store in the UK to offer 100% MP3 tracks for UK audience. In a statement, 7digital’s CEO said that he was happy about Amazon joining of the music download brigade as it would help to open up the MP3 market.

“Now people will definitely have more to decide on instead of 800 pound Apple’s iTunes gorilla.”

It is interesting to note that NMA also tells that they are under good authority to mention that MySpace Music couldn’t reach the UK by the early next year.

This new ad-funded music service from Amazon would feature free downloads and streamed music tracks from Amazon. Currently, three major music labels can be seen on board while EMI is in the negotiations stage still.

Sony has announced to recall around 73,000 Vaio laptops in the US, but according to some reports the number of these laptops may be as many as 440,000. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CSPC) will co-operate with Sony in this connection.

These laptops have been found with a problem that may cause overheating and short-circuit which increase the risk of its operator being burned. So far, one minor burn and 15 overheating complaints have been found.

VGN-TZ100, TZ-200, TZ-300 and TZ-2000 are among those four Vaio models that have the problems and they were sold during July 2007 to August 2008.

Sony has advised the owners to check their serial numbers and product codes from the Sony support page. If you find the same numbers, it is advised to turn off the machine and remove the battery after unplugging it. The Japanese company will provide free inspection and repair the unit if the problem is found.

The fault seems to occur because of the loose wire or a screw close to the centre.

These laptops were sent in more than 48 countries and almost 67,000 units were sold in Japan.

During the last year when crooked power sources in Dell and Apple laptops turned many machines into flames, the Sony had to recall more than five million batteries that cost it around $430m.

Apple had made a plan to introduce a software kit that will allow cellular phone users to create legitimate applications for their iPhones. This newly developed software can make the iPhone more appealing to a lot of people, particularly the cell phone fanatics. With this new software kit from Apple, legitimate add-ons can be downloaded to the iPhone.

Currently in the cell phone market, Apple’s iPhone has everything that a person could ever want in a mobile phone. It features software that can easily be learned, sleek design and intuitive interface. It has state-of-the art features that make it a desirable gadget for any cell phone savvy.

However, new software kit developed by cell phone geeks had hacked the iPhone image. Add-ons that allow instant access to Blockbuster Online DVD Queue and pocket guitar that maximizes the use of the iPhone’s touch screen features had been crafted. Another possible feature of this software is that people will have the access to unlock the iPhone from AT&T to make it work on other cell phone networks. These hacks had been developed without Apple’s technical assistance and provisions.

This month, Apple had planned to introduce to the public their SDK or Software Development Kit which will allow cell phone programmers to create legitimate software for the iPhone. SDK will make developers come up with reliable, legal and Apple-intended software specific for the it which can further pave the way it’s owners to conveniently download applications, different add-ons and programs without having the need to rely on blogs, internet heresays and illegitimate program instructions.

Furthermore, this legitimate software which Apple will be releasing can open a lot of useful and reliable applications such as business software for businessmen among many others. Apple predicts that SDK can further increase the number of iPhone users beyond 4 million as released in January 2008.

Average users of iPhone make use of their device specifically for Apple programs and applications. For instance, when installing different media, they only use iTunes which is the only source that is Apple-intended. Technology geeks, however, hack their iPhones. Adding illegitimate files to your iPhone requires going through a lot of technical procedures. This is not for the average guy. If you are not a techy geek, you will never find it easy or simple. The SDK is important in order to ensure that the iPhone will work well for its avid users as much as possible. With this software, Apple is securing its software’s stability and safety from hackers.

Smartphone market feels upheavals with ‘Palm’ that is losing ground. “Research In Motion’s” profit has scored two times profit on the other side. The company published its quarterly earnings this week. This turned market scenario paints a clear picture of what mobile users are demanding and what doesn’t work for them as much anymore.

‘Palm’ reported a quarterly loss of $9.63 million this second quarter, compared with a $12.8 million profit a year earlier. The company’s revenue went down by 11%, and Palm’s stock fluctuated heavily.

The company hopes that the ‘Palm Centro’ and the introduction of more ‘Windows Mobile-based Smartphones’ will be its ticket to recover the revenue jolts.

“We are pleased with the early success of the ‘Palm Centro’ and intend to deliver more Windows Mobile and Palm-based products throughout the next year”, said Ed Colligan, Palm’s president and CEO.

The industry experts are not that optimistic about ‘Palm’s’ future. Experts, cited Palm’s lack of innovation, an outdated mobile operating system, and a never-ending Linux initiative as the top reasons for mobile professionals to prefer ‘Smartphones’ from other manufacturers.

‘Palm’ is still continuing making ‘Smartphones’ based on the Palm OS, like the new ‘Centro’, but it badly requires evolving with the changing times. One option is to join Google in its Android initiative and consider using the future mobile platform for its ‘Smartphones’.

Palm is investing lot much hope into its ‘Windows Mobile Smartphones’, but they aren’t differentiated in a brutally competitive market with Windows Mobile products already available with brand names like HTC, Samsung, and Motorola.

“BlackBerry’s RIM” also reported earnings this week, which doubled in the third quarter. RIM’s revenue for the quarter grew up by 22% from $1.37 billion in the previous quarter. RIM’s stock was also up by 12% as a result.

More than 80% of RIM’s revenue derived from devices, 14% from services, and 4% from software. The company added 1.65 million BlackBerry subscribers, growing its subscriber base to 12 million. In addition to that the company also shipped more than 3.9 million devices.

“We are pleased to see continuing growth amongst business and government users, with the BlackBerry platform being deployed for a widening range of applications, and we are also pleased with the excellent consumer sales results achieved so far in the holiday buying season,” Balsillie said in a statement.

J.D.Power and Associates conducted a study and revealed that ‘Blackberry’ ranked at the top in overall customer satisfaction among all business ‘Smartphone’ users. Business users expressed their complete satisfaction with the BlackBerry operating system, including attributes like the ability to move between applications quickly and the fast speed of sending and receiving e-mails.

Apart from introducing improvements in existing BlackBerry products, RIM also entered into the consumer market, continuing to roll out its “BlackBerry Pearl and Curve” product lines. The company also introduced a “Dual-mode BlackBerry” with both Wi-Fi and cellular capabilities, and started an aggressive persuasion of customers outside the United States.

“RIM is blowing the doors off with 100% year-over-year growth. It redesigned its products starting in 2006 to be more fashionable and consumer friendly, and is reaping the rewards. Palm is getting squeezed by RIM for enterprise users and by Apple for entertainment-oriented Smartphone buyers,” says analyst Greengart.
