BBC director general Mark Thompson and Google’s Eric Schmidt are in talks to bring the iPlayer for the international audience.

According to the report published in the daily Telegraph, some sources near to Thompson have confirmed that BBC and Google are looking for an international service that will be linked up with YouTube.

The way it’s going to work is not clear yet, however, BBC has recently raised its partnership with video sharing website YouTube as well.

The broadcasting company has just announced that their BBC Earth nature channel clips can now be seen their BBC owned channel on youTube.

The speculation hasn’t been denied by a spokesperson from BBC, but he admitted that there are many obstacles in the way to extend this service in many other countries of the world, and the biggest hurdle in this connection is clearance of international rights.

“There are, indeed, some specific difficulties because of these hurdles and that’s what hiders the plans for an international BBC iPlayer, however, there are many other BBC Worldwide that allows audience to watch BBC content.
DRM is the main thing because of which iPlayer is going to work with the BBC. The shows sometimes disappear on the service and then the content can be sold again on stuff like DVDs, whatever they do to bring their long form content on the web and it can definitely be a good thing for the company.

It’s a long debate and the issue often seems hitting tabloid every now and then.

But according to a specialist from Amsterdam’s Smith & Jones Center, gaming is not an addiction and it must not be treated like that.

Keith Bakker, who is the head of first clinic to work with gamers in Europe, believes that compulsive gaming is a social instead of a psychological problem in the youngsters and kids.

In an interview with the BBC, Baker told that these kids showed some symptoms that were comparable to chemical dependencies and other addictions and they seemed addicted to MMOs.

“ But while working with these kids I found that we couldn’t call this addiction, as it was something like a social problem and many of them needed guidance from their school teachers and parents,” Baker said.

“We observed that almost 80% of these young kids were bullied at their schools and felt isolated. Their many symptoms can be treated just adopting the good old tool of proper communication.”

The research carried out by Smith & Jones Centre recommends that the feelings of powerlessness and anger in compulsive gamers preexist the craving for playing MMOs and other videogames full of violence.

Good news to all avid iPod users and BBC television program followers. Popular iPod digital store, iTunes, had recently launched another reason for people to love their Apple iPods. People can now bring their favorite BBC shows in their pockets. This is another innovation powered by Apple’s unique technology. Apple technology had certainly reached new heights.

TV programs from BBC such as Life on Mars and Little Britain were recently made downloadable from iTunes digital store. This means that Apple technology had found another way to keep its avid users hooked up to their iPods. This latest feature from iTunes had established BBC as the very first broadcaster from UK to make its television programs available using the download service from Apple.

Aside from the above-mentioned BBC programs, Torchwood and Spooks can also be purchased per episode in UK. Newly- aired shows such as Ashes to Ashes are set to appear in iTunes digital store after they are made available for viewing on the free iPlayer service of BBC. Apple’s iPlayer had been marked very popular. In fact, it had been extremely phenomenal.

Reports had shown more that 3.5 million programs downloaded within its first couple of weeks since after its official launch on December 25. Simon Danker of BBC Worldwide had stated that they want to provide their audiences numerous options wherein they can watch their favorite television programs from BBC . With the number of people who are now choosing to use their iPods to watch their favorite television shows, avid followers of BBC can now also choose to watch these shows anywhere they want and wherever they are.

Enabling popular BBC television shows to become available and downloadable from iTunes digital store was another key to BBC Worldwide’s goal of bringing content out towards the largest and widest range of audience possible. This was the statement released by the corporation with regards to this latest news. This is a big leap for BBC because of the number of people who love using their iPods for music, videos and other multi media applications.

Moreover, this also opens another opportunity for iPod to stress out to its users and to the public, in general, the many ways in which iPod can serve and entertain people. Furthermore, BBC network had set specific plans with the regards to the launching of a joint on-demand content service together with ITV and Channel 4 towards the latter part of this year.
