Now the book publishers will be able to directly sell their new books to their readers, as Google is going to launch a new service. A report published in the New York Times says that the search giant has announced about the new service at the BookExpo annual convention in New York.

The new service would be quite contrary to Amazon that offers huge discounts to kindle owners, while with this new Google service, the publishers will be able to sell these books on their own set prices.

Right now, the company has more than nearly one and a half million books for online viewing, while the other six millions will be available for restricted previews and views.

The company is talking with various other publishers and also pursuing a legal action in a US Department of Justice investigation to scan books from libraries with the aim of providing online almost all the published books of the world.

The other agreements that have been discussed in this convention are different from that and they are related to other titles that Google is looking to make available by the end of this year.

Google has been thriving awesomely with its new model of offering something for nothing with its new digital services. Previously, the company has been charging for video content and now it’s considering to charge on premium content available on YoutTube.

Muslim clerics of the world’s largest Muslim population holding country Indonesia have gave their rulings regarding the use of the world’s most favorite social networking website, the Facebook. On Friday, they announced that it was allowed for the Muslim brothers and sisters to use Facebook if the reason was work or communication with family and friends. Otherwise, if they use it for gossiping and flirting, the use of this network becomes Haraam (or forbidden).

Islam sees the human as a constructive minded creature; thus all the things that are included in waste of time or time pass are not liked. Allah Almighty demands productive and positive steps from the human, and this is why things like games, movies, dramas, stories etc are not adored by the religion Islam. Thus, the Ulemah of Indonesia stated that if people use Facebook to interact with their close relatives or pals, there is nothing bad in it; but when it comes to wastage of time, Islam does not recommend it.

In Indonesia, Facebook followers are in large number. Even Google and Yahoo search engines do not hold visitors more than Facebook users in the country. Web-surfing and use of the internet need to be followed according to certain guidelines and rules. The Muslim scholars thought that it is needed to construct those guidelines in order to avoid bad usage of the otherwise very beneficial info hub; the internet. Thus, Facebook usage has been studied, and a wise decision has been announced by the scholars.

Google has got a large success as an internet search engine and advertising platform. This success has put the Google in a problematic situation in the hands of regulators who think that this firm could result in trampling the market competition for free. The senior manager of Google has said that because Google has grown vastly so the company has faced much scrutiny. He also added that Google has always tried to promote competition through online. This week it has been acknowledged that the Google contacted US Federal Trade Commission. This was done regarding legal conflicts between Google and Apple board.

Moreover the Google executives have downplayed the whole issue by saying that Apple is not an internet rival company. They added that apple is well known for iPhones, iPods etc. many analysts have concluded that Android mobile platform which is super headed by Google has put it in the team of profit makers. Google also owns a video sharing website and that is You Tube. This website offers a tough competition for all other online films and shows which are sold online at Apple’s shop. Many enemies that are influenced politically have promised worsen the Google’s present situation. For instance Microsoft is ready to beat Google as the biggest king of online search engine. In March, Google has commanded a total of 72.4% of internet search as compared to struggling Microsoft MSN and Yahoo. Moreover US attorneys have started their investigations in the settlement that would allow Google to make the largest online digital library.

(Credit: Google)

At the company’s headquarters, prior to the Google’s annual meeting, in a discussion with the reporters on various topics, Eric Schmidt (CEO) tried to sidetrack the questions of reported government scrutiny that has surfaced in the last few weeks. He tried to deflect the questions the reporters by just saying that the company should expect the governments all around the world to see what they do and hold to the company’s articulated principles.

The Department of Justice is looking in to the agreement between Google and the publishers over the issue of the rights to showcase book content online. Google confirmed that the Federal Trade Commission would be looking into the matter of Schmidt’s role on board of directors of Apple. This could be seen as a conflict of interest because of Apple’s iPhone business line and Android project of Google.

Schmidt is ready for such kind of a scrutiny because Google is expanding its horizons and reaching those areas that were earlier the realm of other interests.

He said that for them the mission of the company is the most important, even if they have to face the pressure from other industries. However, they are more careful, now, about how and when they do things that could raise any concern.

Other items discussed:

The vice president of product management, Susan Wojcicki, informed that the company is looking seriously into making money from social-networking services, because of the explosion in the potential ad inventory.

The vice president of search products and user experience, Marisssa Mayer, said that Google is finding innovate ways to look at the future possibilities of news coverage and how news stories are presented. She is also looking to improve the importance of microblogging.

Schmidt didn’t comment on the possibility of Android Netbooks. However, he said that the Netbook phenomenon seems real and fits into Google’s cloud computing notions.

Apart from Sony Corp for TV and films Youtube has signed deals with almost 11 other partners to considerably increase legitimate content amount on the site.

The video hosting giant also announces that it’s going to pair up with Disney to show some of their ABC and ESPN offerings.

Some advertising from YouTube will be involved in this new content that might be given along the video or in its running time. Google has hinted for some payment demands from some premium content as the search giant seems to do its best in monetizing its well-known site.

You may find only a few offerings like The Adams family in the beginning, but according to the search giant its considering signing new deals to provide more and more content in the coming days.

“In the coming days, we can expect the prime time slot as a very highly user-programmed, says Shiva Rajaraman, YouTube senior product manager.

It’s quite evident that Google will try to leave no stone unturned in the Hollywood sphere, as the increasing popularity of things like BBC iPalyer and US Hulu is quite worrisome for it.

The Comscore released figures for August doesn’t give a nice reading for Google’s major search rivals including Yahoo and Microsoft.

In the US, almost sixty-three percent web searches are made via Google while Yahoo with its 19.6 per cent searches is languishing far behind. In Yahoo searches, there is a fall of almost 1% on data from July.

On the other hand, Microsoft’s Live search fell almost 0.6 percent (lesser than Yahoo’s figure) with 8.3 percent web searches.

The figures were quite encouraging for Ask and AOL who got slight gains of 0.3% and 0.1 % respectively.

In the United States, almost 11.7 billion ‘core’ searches are performed and it remains one of the most competitive markets due to Yahoo’s legacy.

In UK, for example, search figures for the month of July showed that Google led the market with its 75.3 % share, but in Asian countries, the story is totally different where Google has a 33 % share and Baidu.com 27.4%.

The new service has been trialed for two months on iGoogle and now its running for video provided to YouTube’s political channel.

Gaudi would use video content on the web straight from Google Labs and apply speech recognition when you mutter your search term.

Let’s if you type Google, it will bring forward all videos where ever Google is mentioned in the political circuit.

Though the service is at initial stages, the trial definitely shows promising results. It works with video search and throws videos of search term at those sites where the word isn’t in use and there it marked clearly.

On its official blog Google informs about the Gaudi, “At this dedicated site, you would find more features like ‘sharing’ and ‘search within video’ and a robust user interface as well.” The thing that it has not mentioned is perhaps the best feature of the Gaudi and it is to go automatically to the point where the search term is not used.

Currently, this technology is only available for political speeches, but the company is quite hopeful to present it for all videos in the near future.

It seems that Google wants to continue its goal of breaking into new markets where the company is not considered a dominant force.

However, no word about the figures that Google is going to pay for the blogging developer. The news has been posted on the co-chief executive’s blog.

In Korea, Google is currently is not enjoying success like of Yahoo and this step is being taken by considering that fact. In a blog post, Tatter’s chief executive says, “we are going to be Googled!”

On the other hand, a Google spokesperson announced in an email that: “We welcome Tatter and Company’s engineering team to Google Korea.”

“It will help us to boost our online publishing tools by acquiring Tatter and Company and it will also benefit those thousands of users who depend on Google and Tatter and Company products.”

In terms of penetration, South Korea is considered an internet giant where more than 70% population is online.

In terms of users, this puts it fourth in the region, but still there are huge audience and Google desperately wants to get some of it.

TextCube is considered the main product of Tatter which is a blogging service. We still have to wait to see the impact of this acquisition on Google’s other acquired blogger.
