Wikio is basically a search engine with which an individual can find blogs and news. It allows users to submit a website or write a news. Wikio was created by Pierre Chappaz in 2006. Chappaz is also popular for creatin kelkoo.The office of wikio is based in luxemborg and has startup capital of around 1,666,175 euros.

Layout

Grey and white form the background of homepage. White color always support and compliment links over it and use of this color has increased visual appeal of the homepage. Navigation bar on the top of homepage consists of logo in left corner and search bar in the middle with popular news in bottom. Dark blue color of this bar provides contrast that is required by white background of the homepage.

Content

Wikio is basically a search engine for news and blogs. So main importance is given to news on the homepage. First option for looking out for the news is provided in the navigation bar on the to p of homepage. Here you can check your kind of article from the section named news, blog, shopping, videos and top blogs. You can also search for news from keywords. Than major portion of webpage is covered under three sections namely Breaking news, Top videos and Blogs. Main stories under this section are displayed with number of votes they have given by the users. A user is directed towards the particular website by clicking on on these links.

Another interesting feature is tag cloud for Name and important topics. These help users to look out for news and articles by name and a keyword from the tag cloud.

In the bottom of website various sections like about wikio , wikio shopping,  wikio news categories and wikio tools are given which helps users to browse through various areas of website.

Users can vote for a article and comment on it. More number of votes for a particular article or news increases its visibility on the website. RSS feeds on every page helps users to subscribe to the news.

Sitepoint is online platform of sitepoints pty. Ltd which was established back in 1999 by Mark Harbottle and Matt Mickiewicz. Sitepoint is basically an online media company that targets web professional and web developers. This website provides information about  softwares , coding languages, designing tools, tutorials and latest developments  around the world  that are sought after by Professionals.

Sitepoint has white background which gives it a very professional look. Navigation bar on the top in dark blue color contains link to other pages including articles, books, kits, videos, blogs, contests, market place etc. A considerable section of the homepage is dedicated to the story of the day which contains some information about the story as well. This is to attract visitors to particular news which regular visitors can directly go to. Next to this section is the editor’s choice comprising of articles chosen by editor. Newsletter section is provided for the users who want to get information in the mails. On the right side of homepage is list of products that are available for sale. This includes email marketing software name MAIL CHIMP. There is a list of books offered by site points as well on this corner which includes books for website designing, writing css etc. A visitor can order download free sample of these books and can order these books from this website as well.

Rest of the homepage contains sections dedicated to news related to various sections like design, Tech and business. In each section top stories excerpts from top stories are given. A list of most viewed articles is given in the bottom.
